At
the Kids of Promise Preschool, learning is more than a game. And
to succeed in learning, you need the proper building blocks
called curriculum. That's why we use the "A Beka" curriculum for
all grades. "A Beka" is a proven curriculum used by more
Christian schools than any other.
At the heart of "A Beka" is an excellent
phonics program used to develop superior reading skills.
Beginning with the 2/3 year level, they learn vowel and
consonant sounds and recognition of lower and upper case
letters.
By K-4 they will learn to blend phonic sounds, pronounce one and
two vowel words and read through as many as 10 books. In
addition to writing skills they, develop language & listening
skills that include color words, shapes, animals,
transportation, countries, community helpers, health, safety,
manners and science. Twenty eight poems and finger plays are
committed to memory and they will learn their numbers 1-100 and
learn basic addition facts.
The five year old kindergarten program is outstanding as well.
Children will be reading with amazing proficiency, developing
cursive writing skills, learning to use capital letters and
periods. Their studies will include health and human biology and
the science of earth and space. K-5 children will learn number
words, the value of coins and dollars, telling time, using the
calendar, days of the week, addition facts through 10, beginning
subtraction, one-step story problems and counting by twos.
In the K-5 class, students will study
many subjects in science, including God's plan for seeds,
animals and the seashore. They will learn about the weather, the
seasons and God's plan for me, a health and human biology
series. Social studies will include lessons on community
helpers, children of the world, and America, our great country.
This series will introduce the children to map studies, famous
Americans and famous places in America.
We are sure that with the "A Beka" curriculum, your child has
one of the essentials necessary for a superior preschool
